Wolf Capture Course

Born from the necessity to respond to and solve problem wildlife calls involving wolves, our Wolf Capture course enables an operator to target and capture specific wolves through the exclusive use of our certified humane and patented foot hold traps. Our system allows for the humane live capture of wolves enabling the option to release for research or removal of an entire pack for wildlife management and livestock protection purposes; in all weather and geography.

Typically conducted over a three (3) or five (5) day course the entire system will be taught to students over a combination of lecture/power point classroom time and field demonstrations, applications and hands on experience in areas near the course location.

The following is a basic overview and more specific agenda of the training course for wolf capture. This breakdown includes descriptions of what is included in the 3 day course, 5 day course and the extended training programs:

Overview

  • Classroom – Consisting of power point presentation, lecture, question/answer and hands on with equipment.

    • System

    • Methods

    • Equipment

  • In Field

    • Instruction - basic tactics in nearby area

    • Hands on by students

    • Simulations - brief travel to realistic sites and travel to actual sites for simulations

    • Real world application of tactics at a later date (extended training and certification course)

  • Students will be assessed as to their potential ability throughout the course.

Day 3 – Field work

  • Equipment familiarization

  • Instruction/demonstration of types of sets

  • Hands on practice by students with equipment available

  • Simulation of tactics in a more realistic location to bring the methods together.

Day 4-5

  • Travel to actual locations where wolves and/or packs of wolves have been removed for examples to students

  • Continued simulations and practice setting by students in order to progress skills

Extended training program:

  • Students will accompany trainers on real world projects throughout all seasons in order to complete training in order to be certified under the entire system.

The above is a basic outline and is flexible in order to adjust for students abilities and requirements, however all topics will be covered. Please note that due to the time of year that a course may take place some topics that are weather specific are unable to be demonstrated i.e. snow mobile sets in the summer months. Students will be expected to bring any trapping and setting equipment or supplies including types of wolf traps that they have or do currently use. When appropriate a sleigh or toboggan will be available in order to demonstrate tactics from a snowmobile and modifications that can be made.

Students are suggested to take notes throughout the course. If requested some photos will be allowed but no video. Students are heavily encouraged to ask questions throughout the course in order to tailor the material to their own personal needs and experiences.
